This photo was taken in Tanah Toraja and is of the front of a traditional home. The Toraja, who live in the interior of Sulawesi, have an ancient culture which shares much with other Pacific islanders. The buffalo horns symbolize wealth, and buffalo sacrifices are held at funerals so that you can take it all with you after all! It's a shamelessly material world, and no culture is an exception to this mythos.
