Among the first clothing worn by humans was woven tree fiber. Here this woman, in the remote area of Bada in Central Sulawesi, models traditional dress. When I visited the village many years back, I was greeted by the plonk of bark pounding. This craft will be extinct in the near future; imported textiles are ensuring its extinction.
